Why Choose Dr. Chambers

A Hand Specialist Who Puts Patients First

When you choose a hand surgeon, you're choosing the person who will personally evaluate you, explain your options, and perform your procedure. Dr. Chambers delivers subspecialty expertise with the personal attention of a family physician.

🎯

Subspecialized Focus

Dr. Chambers treats only the hand, wrist, and elbow — every day, all day. This depth of focus produces better outcomes than a general orthopedic surgeon can offer.

👨‍⚕️

You Always See the Doctor

Every appointment is with Dr. Chambers directly — not a PA or NP. He believes patients deserve to see the specialist they came to see, every time.

Same-Day Access

Injuries don't keep business hours. Same-day appointments are routinely available. Urgent injuries are seen the next business day — no waiting weeks for a specialist slot.

🏥

Wide Awake Surgery

Most hand and wrist procedures are performed under local anesthesia — no general anesthesia, no recovery room wait, faster return to normal life.

📋

Evidence-Based Care

Treatments rooted in current research and published outcomes data — not habit or convention. Dr. Chambers authored peer-reviewed articles and presents at national conferences.

🕐

On-Time Appointments

Your time matters. Dr. Chambers and his team run an efficient clinic schedule — you won't spend your afternoon in a waiting room wondering when you'll be called back.

How We Treat

Conservative First. Surgical When It Matters.

Most conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow respond to non-surgical treatment when diagnosed correctly and early. When surgery is the right answer, Dr. Chambers uses the most modern, minimally invasive techniques available.

Non-Surgical

Splinting & Injections

Cortisone and PRP injections, custom splinting, and activity modification resolve most acute and chronic conditions without surgery.

Non-Surgical

Physical & Hand Therapy

Certified hand therapists partner with Dr. Chambers to maximize functional recovery — whether surgery was performed or not.

Surgical

Wide Awake Surgery

Most hand and wrist procedures performed under local anesthesia only — no general anesthesia, no tourniquet pain, faster recovery, and real-time intraoperative feedback.

Surgical

Minimally Invasive & Endoscopic

Endoscopic carpal tunnel release, arthroscopic wrist procedures, and percutaneous techniques minimize incision size and accelerate return to work and sport.

Surgical

Complex Reconstruction

Nerve repair and grafting, tendon reconstruction, fracture fixation, joint replacement, and revision surgery — including cases other surgeons refer to Dr. Chambers.

Surgical

Pediatric Upper Extremity

Growth plate fractures, little league elbow, gymnast's wrist, and nursemaid's elbow — treated with techniques specific to growing bones and young athletes.

Frequently Asked Questions

No referral is needed. You can call (919) 781-5600 or book online and schedule directly at any of the four Triangle locations. Most major insurance plans are accepted through Raleigh Orthopaedic.

Yes. Same-day appointments are routinely available at all four locations. For urgent injuries — fractures, lacerations, acute infections — Dr. Chambers will make time to see you the next business day so you don't wait weeks for answers.

You will see Dr. Chambers directly at every visit. He does not delegate patient care to physician assistants or nurse practitioners — every patient receives the fellowship-trained specialist's full attention at every appointment.

Dr. Chambers accepts most major insurance plans through the Raleigh Orthopaedic network, including most PPO and HMO plans. Workers' compensation cases are also welcome. Call (919) 781-5600 or visit the insurance page to verify your specific plan before your appointment.

Call (919) 781-5600 to schedule a follow-up appointment. Please bring all imaging from your ER visit — X-rays and any CT scans — with you on a disc or printed report. Do not rely on images being electronically transferred, as delays are common and Dr. Chambers needs to review your actual films.

WALANT (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet) allows most hand and wrist procedures to be performed with the patient fully awake using only local anesthetic — similar to dental anesthesia. No general anesthesia, no IV sedation, no recovery room wait. Most patients leave within an hour of their procedure ending. Dr. Chambers performs the majority of outpatient hand procedures using WALANT technique.
